The endoscope is designed for medical use and comprises a straight tube and an angled extension tube. A bundle (1) of light transmitting glass fibres is inserted into the tube arranged in strict order to ensure their same relative positions at the end (3) of the tube as at the front (4). The fibres convey light down the tube (5) and return the image for viewing in an eye piece (6). A light source (8) is at the side (9) a prism (11) directing the light. A separate tube at the side can be fitted for inserting probes.
