A sterilizable pouch comprises a preferably thermally stable transparent film web (10) and a preferably steam- permeable paper web (11) sealed together (at 13, 14, 15) to form a pocket unsealed at one end with an unsealed end portion of one web (11) extending beyond an end edge (19) of the other web (10) to form a flap (18). One of the webs has a band of adhesive (17) near to but spaced from the end edge (19), the adhesive band being wide enough, when the flap is folded over, to seal the space between the adhesive band and the end edge (19) and also to seal an area adjacent to the end edge (19) on the web devoid of adhesive so as to form a contaminant-proof closure seal for the pocket. <IMAGE> |
