Remote control circuit for model railway - has complementary transistors controlled by separate variable transformers for independent control of two trains on same circuit

The circuit for a model railway has two variable transformers (1 1') with sliding contacts (5) (5'). The secondary winding of each transformer is connected through a diode (4) (4') to the emitter of a corresponding transistor (2) (2') and the sliders through resistances (3) (3') to the bases. With this circuit positive half waves are fed to one branch and negative half waves to the other branch. The value of the resistances (3) (3') determine the voltage at which each branch of the circuit is energised so that each branch can be remotely controlled from the transformers (1) (1') and operate independently of the other. Thus, two trains on the same circuit can be controlled independently.
