The heating system incorporates a circuit with a conventional heat source. It includes a heat-transfer liquid and a heat pump, together with a system for dissipating the heat to the rooms in the house. The heat pump (3) can be bypassed by a pipe (11), and the inlet (7) for the liquid to it can be shut off, typically by switching off a pump with a non-return valve before it. The bypass pipe can be shut off by a solenoid valve (12) dependent on the pressure in the coolant circuit of the heat pump.
