A C3-4 olefin feed is catalytically polymerized using a silica-alumina catalyst (which can be fluorinated) to produce high-octane petrol, which distils below 200 DEG C, and a higher- boiling cut which is either hydrogenated to produce a jet fuel that distils at 200-250 DEG C and a hydraulic fluid that distils at 250-330 DEG C, or is fractionated to give a cut that distils at 200-250 DEG C and is recycled to the catalytic polymerization, and a higher-boiling cut, which is hydrogenated to give a hydraulic fluid that distils at 250-330 DEG C.
