The sensitivity of a wheel speed sensor 12 in an anti-skid braking system to wheel deceleration is varied in dependence on braking pressure and/or axle load. The sensor 12 is driven from the wheel through a variable-ratio transmission 18. The transmission ratio being varied by a fluid actuator 56, 58. Suspension movement due to axle loading, results in movement of the actuator, and is transmitted through a Bowden cable 66. Brake pressure is applied by line 54 to move the piston 58. <IMAGE> |
