1341476 Heat insulating material GLANZSTOFF AG 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 22922/71 Heading B5N A multi-layer web of heat insulating material for use in the manufacture of rescue suits and protective clothing comprises several layers of a woven or knitted fabric or fibre fleeces which may be quilted, stitched or bonded together and which include heat-insulating, difficultly combustible and/or flame-proof layers and also if desired layers which are capable of floating or of keeping a body afloat, the layers which are difficultly combustible and/or flame-proof contain or consist entirely of fibres of polyacyloxalamidrazones which contain one or more of the metals zinc, tin, cadmium, barium, strontium, calcium, antimony or tantalum in a chemicallybound form and/or fibres of these metal compounds of polyacyloxalamidrazones with cellulose. The polymer preferably contains at least 15% by weight of chemically-bound metal. The fire-resistant layers suitably comprise 40-100% of the metal-containing fibres, the weight of said layer being 50-300 grams per square metre. The total weight of the multilayer material is suitably 300 to 1000 grams per square metre. Where the fire-resistant material is employed as a surface layer it is preferably in the form of a woven or knitted fabric but when employed as an internal layer of the web fibre fleeces are preferably used. The heat-insulating layer is preferably a fleece of polyester fibres and the layer or layers which enable the material to float or support a weight afloat may be made of the known high strength fabrics of polyamide yarn which are coated to render them waterproof. The surface layer of the material may be metallized. |
