摘要 PURPOSE:To make possible the acceleration of printing speed by reducing the resistance value of a heat generating element in a paper movement direction at a thermal head consisting of a glazed layer, a heat generating element, electrode wiring and a protection layer laminated sequentially on an insulative substrate. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head is provided that consists of a glazed layer 2, a heat generating element 3, an electrode 4 and a protection layer 5 formed on an insulative substrate 1. The heat generating element is annealed using a laser beam 9, and adjusted so that a resistance value decreases gradually in a paper movement direction in the dots of the heat generating element. After thermally generated dots 3 are produced in a photolithography process, a laser beam is projected to an area on the side where thermosensitive paper 7 for heat generating dots 3 moves. The laser beam has an energy which is powerful enough not to allow the heat generating element to evaporate thermally (not scatter). In this way, the heat generating dots are partially annealed to allow the generation of a difference between both ends of the heat generating dot 3. When the heat generating is used and heated by energization, heat spreads under a state close to a state where thermosensitive paper is at a standstill, if the thermosensitive paper moves in an arrow direction. Consequently, tailing or blotting hardly occurs, even if printing is performed at high speed, and the print quality is increased during high speed printing.
