Transformer windings of rectangular shape are provided on at least two transformer legs. A supporting plate (10) situated at the long outer parts of outer windings (1), resting on a frame or on the tank wall, so that a clear space (14) is left between the winding and supporting plate (10). The clear space is not greater than 5 mm. The support element (10) is cut to a special profile over at least part of its area. The support element is associated with a wooden backing plate (11).
