A plastics or lead seal comprises a conduit 5 for receiving a push-in member 1 having a head 3 and sawtooth-shaped recesses 10, the conduit containing a latching member 8 connected to a wall of the conduit by a weakened region 9. When the member 1 is inserted into the conduit 5 the member is prevented from withdrawal by the latching member 8 jamming between a surface of a recess 10 and a surface 6 of the conduit 5. The weakened region 9 may break during insertion of the member 1. Shoulders 16 prevent the member 1 from being pushed through the conduit. A projection 14 on the latching member 8 engages a recess (13, Fig. 3) in the wall of the conduit to prevent the member 8 from being withdrawn at the left-hand end of the conduit as shown. The seal may be formed as a knot protector (Fig. 4, not shown).</p> |
