A continuous filament stringer 16 for a slide fastener comprises a series of U-shaped heel portions 28 lying in a common plane with the leg members 34, 36 of adjacent heel portions juxtaposed, intermediate leg portions 40, 42 formed by bending the leg members 34, 36 such that the leg portions lie in a plane inclined to that in which the heel portions lie, and interlocking means consisting of enlarged, e.g. looped, elements 20 attached to the juxtaposed leg members such that they lie in a plane substantially parallel to the plane containing the heel portions. The stringer is sewn to the tape 10 by a thread 18 such that each bight portion 38 of the heel portions 28 is placed closely adjacent the tape edge 12, the tape is then folded lengthwise to provide a folded edge such that when closed the fastener is concealed behind folded margins 15 in the tapes 10. |
