The circuit breaker contains damping resistors and at least one main switching path. Parallel to the latter is an auxiliary switching path in series with a damping resistor. The system contains an insulating rod (9) connected to a shared drive and opening the main contacts and auxiliary contacts. Each pair of auxiliary contacts (14) comprises a moving contact pin (13) with a piston (6) at its non-contact end and a spring (10). The piston is located in a cylinder (4) connected to a larger cylinder (3). The larger cylinder contains a piston (5) connected to the insulating rod.
