PURPOSE:To obtain the optical element formed by using an org. nonlinear optical material which has a large nonlinear optical constant, is short in a cut off wavelength and is stable by consisting the nonlinear optical medium of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:The compd. expressed by the formula I is used as the nonlinear optical medium 3. In the formula I, R2 to R8 denote hydrogen, electron donative group or electron attracting group and these groups may be the same or different. The high polymer contg. the compd. in the side chain or main chain refers to a monomer of a transparent high polymer; for example, the monomers bonded and polymerized with acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, styrene, etc., by ester bonding, amide bonding or carbon-carbon bonding. The nonlinear optical element which is short in the cut off wavelength, stable and excellent in nonlinear optical performance is obtd. in this way. |
