The conveyor roller comprises a hub to which several spaced rollers are fixed. Each roller is constructed of a steel sleeve and a number of rings of sound absorbing material. The rings may be of hard felt obtained by compression of a resin impregnated felt prepared by combining a woven support with a fibre filling. Other materials for the rings include synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. The rollers may be sheathed with a thin layer of steel. The total surface area of the rollers is from 30 to 70% of the surface area of the conveyor rollers.
