A die heat for an extruder incorporates a recessed die face with a base which forms an internal crest to divide the material flow received from the extruder. Two die head passages lead the branched flow to separate twin outlet faces fitted with local profile dies. Heaters are fitted to the head surfaces within the facial recess and on the outside of the head. Splitting of the extrudate flow brings any incompletely fused material at the heart of the flow into cclose contact with the heated surfaces of the flow divider, providing direct fusion of the core material and reducing the heat flux required through in the outer zones of the material in the primary flow. The division of the flow increases the ratio of heating surface areas/material bulk. The devisive heated head can increases output by boosting fusion efficiency and by providing two outlet zones instead of one.
|
