A cargo restraint for use in a container consists of a flexible belt(4) and an anchoring system for attachment to each of two walls of the container. The anchoring system is used for adjusting both the length of the effective length of the belt and the height of the ends of this length. Each anchoring system comprises an endless belt(18, 26) movable within a channel(6, 8) to which an end of the flexible belt is stitched. Adjustment is by a further belt (22, 30) fixed to the endless belt and accessible through a hole in the container, the further belt being locked as required.
