The locking mechanism is used for the support arm of, a lifting platform. This arm is able to swivel on a slide travelling on a column and the arm may be locked in position. Along the support arm (4) is arranged a long slender tube (L1) connected to raising slider on the column. A sliding bar (12) is connected to a support arm (4), a clamp (15) connecting the tube and bar. This telescopic arrangement locks the support arm into a required angular position and prevents inadvertent release.
