Appts. includes an extinguishing tower, a condensn. system and a system for recovering and discharging condensate to allow heat recovery. The condens. system and the gas outlet are isolated from the exterior in the upper part of the tower, which is closed at the top. A wagon station is provided in a space at the base of the tower and can be closed by doors so as to be isolated from the exterior. The system fo recovering and discharging condensate is above the system of nozzles for spraying the coke, within the tower. It consists of a Venetian shutter arranged obliquely with an outlet at the lower end. The condensn. system is a mixing one. Emissions of gases, vapours and dusts during the extinction of coke are completely eliminated. Recovery of heat is facilitated. The tower is easily operated. The installation can be adopted without difficulty for the modernising of existing towers. Economies may be achieved by using the recovered heat to purify waste waters and provide water for industrial use.
