<p>DIAZO IMAGING SYSTEM A method of producing an azo dye image by contacting an imagewise distribution of a material capable of catalyzing the decomposition of a base releasing complex of a transition metal in a hydrophilic matrix with a hydrophobic layer containing a diazonium compound in the presence of an azo dye forming coupler and an aqueous solution of the base releasing transition metal complex whereupon the base liberated by the decomposition of the base releasing complex initiates coupling between the diazonium compound and the azo dye forming coupler to produce an azo dye image corresponding to the imagewise distribution of the catalytic material in the matrix. According to a preferred embodiment, the catalytic material is silver and the transition metal complex is cobalt hexammine.</p> |
