Self aligning prop for a soldering iron - to ensure that the tip is automatically supported when free standing

A prop for a soldering iron comprises a metal profile like a V with bent feet splayed at an angle of about 50 degrees and with a hole in the root of the V large enough for the prop to hang freely on the root of the iron where it enters the handle. The prop is retained by a collar and is self-positioning so that the feet point downwards whatever the alignment of the tip of the iron, when the iron is laid down. Avoids distraction of the user to ensure that the tip is not laid directly upon other surfaces except when in use.
