The safety mechanism is designed for a shotgun. The cocking lever (B), which projects from the shotgun stock, cocks the hammer spring (F) only shortly before actual firing by a cam (B1) and cocking frame (C). The spring is slackened by releasing the lever handle. This makes the gun safe for carrying. Movements of the cocking lever are prevented by a locking element (N) actuated by a wedge (O) and push rod (P).
