<p>Active furnace soot, flame soot and thermal soot are prepared by thermal decomposition of a charge contg. 0-100% vulcanisate waste, 0-70% synthetic materials, synthetic resin and fibre waste, and 0-50% of wastes and by-prods. from coking, petroleum processing and petrochemical syntheses, at 250-950 degrees C, opt. followed by treatment of the volatile prod. at 400-900 degrees C. Fractions and extracts contg. mainly cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with correlation index >90 are sepd. by fractionation, extn. and condensn. and these prods. are used, opt. with other liquid raw materials, for the prodn. of C black. Easily available waste materials are utilised productively. Raw materials which yield high quality C black can be obtd. by controlling the compsn. of the feed and the reaction conditions. The appts. is simple and the process is cheap.</p> |
