The pipe flange connection has a seal which is fitted before the two flanges are connected. Packings or seals are held in the correct position between the tube flanges. Metal clips (3) are provided to enclose the flange (1). A clip is anchored into the seal. The clips are bent through more than a right angle relative to the seal surface in the same direction. The clips can be integrally connected with a metallic insert of the seal. The clips can be ratchet connected as springs into the outside circumferential surface of the flange.
