The weaning apparatus is intended in particular to prevent undesired sucking on other dairy animals; it functions with high-voltage current surges. The electrical circuit is switched on by means of a tilting switch in the apparatus (1) when the apparatus (1) assumes an approximately horizontal position. In operating modes, the apparatus (1) is arranged on the forehead of the animal and is held in position by means of three straps (5, 6, 7) which are attached to the neck strap (8). The apparatus is secured in the animal fur by means of contact points which are on the underside of the apparatus and reach down to the animal hide. All the elements of the electrical circuit are accommodated in the apparatus housing. This weaning apparatus also permits a longer period of use without injury or ingrowing. <IMAGE>
