An inelastic compression stocking is made from skin-coloured polyester fabric (Diolen, RTM) and has a 17 cm long slit which can b elaced or zipped up. The direction of the weave is straight in the leg portion but oblique in the foot portion. The stocking can be secured to the skin by zinc oxide adhesive strip about 20 cm in length. In an alternative form, the stocking is impregnated with zinc oxide adhesive and has overlapping side portions so that the leg may be enveloped. The stocking has two tucks in the upper rear edge and the zip or lace is covered by a fold.
