Welding heat resistant alloy rings onto poppet valves - via automatic machine, where valves are for use in IC engines

Plant for deposition welding is esp. for welding a ring (a) made of heat resistant alloy onto the working surface of a poppet valve (b) intended for an IC engine. A row of the valves with stem pointing downwards flows down an inclined chute; and a row of rings (a) flows down a second chute. A manipulator successively removes one valve (b) and one ring (a) from the two chutes. The manipulator turns each valve so the stem of the latter points upwards, and moves the ring against the valve. A swivel plate fitted with a loader, spray quenching nozzle, and discharge pipe for the welded assembly (a, b) is used in conjunction with the manipulator and swivels between three positions. The loader lifts the valve stem up through a ring induction heating coil so the setm enters a chuck which rotates during welding. After welding, the quenching nozzles is used and the assembly (a, b) is then released from the chuck so it enters the discharge pipe. Used for high speed mass prodn. of valves for IC engines.
