<p>Process for the preparation of a 2-methyl-3-(2-methyl-5-isopropenylcyclopent-1-en-1-yl)propyl carboxylate. This process consists in treating 1-methyl-2-methylene-3-isopropenylcyclopentanol by means of alkyl orthopropionate in the presence of an organic acid having a pKa of between 7 and 9, in reducing the ester thus obtained to the corresponding primary alcohol and finally in acylating the said alcohol. This process has an improved yield for the production of this compound which is particularly advantageous for its organoleptic properties, especially in perfumery.</p> |
