Fault detector for containers insulation - uses HV pulses which are applied to tubular electrodes, and observes rise or fall of current

The conductor passes through one or two tubular electrodes to which h.v. pulses are applied through transformers. Current rise in time in the transformer (6) primary winding, and/or current fall in its secondary winding serves as a criterion for distinction between current caused by insulation fault and current caused by other defect. The primary and secondary of the transformer have a common connection to a pair of diodes connected in anti-parallel. The secondary output is connected to a bridge (12) having one of its output lines connected through a resistor (8) which has both ends connected across a pulse generator with an output leading to the output display.
