DEVICE FOR LIFTING PIECES OF LUMBER

A lumber lifting device is disclosed for lifting individual pieces of lumber from an elongate soaking basin. The device has a hoisting unit with a concave hoisting surface and immediately below this a curved stopping surface. The device is capable of revolving forwards and backwards to a limited extent and the hoisting surface, which holds a single piece of lumber, is located below the water surface of the basin. On rotating the hoisting device the lumber is dumped so that it rolls or glides off the hoisting surface and is transferred to a reception position.
