The air conditioning system directs cold and hot air into a room (10) with side walls and a ceiling. Hot and cold air is blown into the room with low noise by reliable and simple arrangement. An especially uniform temperature distribution is ensured in the room for heating and cooling and no cold draughts occur in the lower region of the room. Hot air with maximum heating performance is used on heating the room and it is blown into room from the ceiling downwards. On cooling the room the cold air with maximum cooling performance is blown from another ceiling outlet, approximately parallel to ceiling, along the ceiling into the room to be cooled.
