PURPOSE:To obtain a copolymer having excellent hardenability in air, solubility in solvent and apparent hardenability and useful for paint, adhesive, sealing material and molding material, by copolymerizing di-cyclopentenyl fumarate and styrene. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer containing preferably 1.2-100wt% bonding group of formula II and having a number-average molecular weight of preferably 3,000-300,000 can be produced by copolymerizing (A) 1mol of di-cyclopentenyl fumarate of formula I with (B) usually >=1mol of styrene preferably in a solvent (e.g. toluene) in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g. azobisisobutyronitrile). |
