Fluorine-contg. surfactants - useful for prodn. of fire-fighting foams

Fluorine-contg. surfactants of formula Rf- OC6H4.SO2-N- (CH2)mOSO3.-X+ 2 2 (I) are claimed, where Rf is a perfluorocarbon gp. of formula C2NF4n-2-, n >=4, m = 1-6 and X is an alkali metal or (substd.) ammonium gp. The gp. Rf is pref. an oligomer of tetrafluoroethylene. (I) are made e.g. by reacting an alcohol Rf- OC6H4SO2N- (CH2)mOH 2 2 with chlorosulphonic acid or SO3 at 60 degrees C. (I) have excellent surface active properties aq. systems.
