<p>The mechanism aligns and adjusts the distance between two rail ends to be joined by fishplate or by welding and subsequent deburring, and comprises a rigid horizontal open frame overlapping the two rails and leaving an access zone to them. Two main presses and two end ones are mounted in line in the frame, the main ones being inside the end ones, so that each assembly formed by a main and an end press grips one of the rails. Rams adjust the distance between the latter, and where a welded joint is used also adjust the position of the deburring tool. Each main press can have a fixed jaw acting against one side of the rail web, and a ram-operated moving one against the other.</p> |
