A filter cartridge has a filtration element and an adsorption element arranged in two concentric annuli with intervening perforated walls. The flat ends of the cartridge have apertures through which the adsorbent may be removed and replaced with fresh material. In the clarification of liqs. where fine particles, colouring matter, water droplets and so on are present as well as filterable material, they are removable only by adsorption. The cartridge is a dual-purpose one of simple and cheap construction, and it allows the adsorbent to be replaced without affecting the filter element, this allows operating economies since normally the adsorbent will need to be exchanged before the filter medium is exhausted. |
