PURPOSE:To make a mechanism part simple and compact by setting the length of a magnetic tape, which is scanned by a magnetic head, to be longer than one block and to be shorter than the full length of a track and completing the scan of one track by the plural magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:One track 10 is considered with being divided into the 2-3 blocks. Then, two or three magnetic heads 31 and 32 are fitted on a rotary cylinder 2 at a different height so that the respective blocks can be scanned by the different magnetic heads 31 and 32. Accordingly, the track length to be scanned by the respective magnetic heads 31 and 32 goes to be 1/2-1/3 in comparison with a case to execute the scanning by one magnetic head. Then, both the diameter of the cylinder and the winding angle of the magnetic tape can be reduced in comparison with a conventional example. Thus, a magnetic recording and reproducing device can be made compact. |
