PURPOSE:To provide the above material having excellent recording characteristics, image stability and near infrared absorption by constituting a recording layer using 2,2'-dihydroxy[2,2'-biindane]-1,1',3,3'-tetrone and a specific imino compound as color formers. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer is constituted by supporting 2,2'-dihydroxy[2,2'- biindane]-1,1',3,3'-tetrone (hydrindantin) represented by formula I or a dihydride thereof represented by formula II and an imino compound represented by formula III or IV (wherein R<1> is an aryl group which may have a substitutent, R<2> is an arylamino group which may have a substituent and R<1> and R<2> may form a heterocyclic ring which may have a substituent along with adjacent -N=C- or -NH-C-) on a support. The reaction of both compounds is irreversible and recording stability is high. Since a developed color image has near infrared absorption, this recording material can be utilized in an optical character reader. |
