Appts. has a number of nozzles disposed about the periphery of the cable to spray the cable as it passes the nozzles with conical sprays. Layers are uniformly thick and spraying is effected in a manner in which environment is not polluted. Pref. the appts. includes a tubular chamber provided with an array of nozzles which are distributed symmetrically about the inner periphery of the chamber, whereby the nozzles may be adjustable radially to cope with conductors of different diameter. Single chamber may be replaced with a succession of chamber if a sequence of operative steps is to be carried out.
