The stay is pivoted on the door pillar and the free end of the stay arm projecting into body has an end buffer plug. Along the length of arm are situated holding lugs. The arm passes between two prismatic wedge blocks. The braking wedge blocks are made of nonmetallic materials of low wear properties. The braking effect is maintained even with progressive wear. The brake wedge blocks (8) have flat faces in contact with sloping inner faces of the housing. The housing walls are at acute angle to stay arm. The brake wedge blocks are loaded by rubber springs with notch (23). A rubber spring (9) is held by one end against a housing inner plate. The other end of spring is held in the braking wedge seat.
