REFRIGERANT COMPOSITION COMPRISING FLUOROALKANE REFRIGERANT AND FLUOROAROMATIC LUBRICANT HAVING HIGH COMPATIBILITY WITH SAID REFRIGERANT

The use of a fluoroaromatic compound represented by the following general formula (I) as a lubricant for a refrigerating system using a fluoroalkane refrigerant: R(XRf)n, wherein X represents oxygen or sulfur; R represents an n-valent C6 to C60 aromatic group; n represents an integer of 1 to 4; and Rf represents a C1 to C25 unsubstituted or partially substituted fluorocarbon residue which may contain at least one ether linkage in its main chain and wherein the ratio of the number of fluorine atoms to that of carbon atoms is 0.6 or above. This compound not only has a good compatibility with fluoroalkane refrigerants represented by HFC-134a in a wide temperature range but also is excellent in various characteristics required of refrigerating system lubricants, such as heat resistance, lubricating properties, low hygroscopicity and electrical insulation, so that it is highly useful as a refrigeration lubricant.
