<p>The load cell is fitted to a thrust block attached to the standing part of the vertical ram by the loading forks are raised. The forks are attached to chaing which run over rollers which are mounted on the upper ends of the vertical pistons of the hydraulic rams. The inner ends of the chains are fixed to the thrust block via a bolt and retaining nut. The load cell comprises a base plate (3) to which are attached two angled strips (5). Each consists of vertical arm joined by a horizontal projection (6). This projection passes under the bottom face of the thrust block between the latter and the retaining nut (9). It has a clearance hole (11) through which the bolted end of the lifting chain passes. The insert is a deformable element on which are located strain gauge strips. These transducers form part of a resistance bridge which converts the deformation, and hence the load on the forks, into an electrical signal.</p> |
