The item of luggage comprises three compartments (3, 4 and 5) whose opening is controlled by means of respective buttons (12, 13 and 14) arranged on a single central panel (8). A combination lock, whose numeral discs project from the same panel, immobilises the three buttons only when the opening combination is displayed. The grouping of the buttons on the same panel enables them to be locked by means of a single lock. <IMAGE>
