The pivot closure has a housing (3), on the bearing pin (13) of which a cover (30) is pivotably arranged. The housing (3) is provided with a pouring-out through-passage (10) and a closing sealing surface (25) at the outlet thereof. This surface (25) corresponds in shape to the cover internal closure sealing surface (33). The pivot axis (14, 37) runs askew-perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal axis (11) of the pouring-out through-passage (10). When the cover (30) is pivoted into the closing position, the sealing surfaces (25, 33) are pressed against each other by a force which is at least approximately proportional to the distance of the pivot axis (14, 37) from the longitudinal axis (11), of the pouring-out through-passage (10), and to the pivot-angle change. The cover (30) is provided with at least one restoring spring (45), e.g. a torsion spring. At least the sealing surface (25, 33) of one part can be faceted. Blocking elements (19, 20, 40, 41) are provided in order to hold the cover (30) in the open position. An adhesively bonded seal is located inside the cover. The corresponding sealing surfaces (25, 33) may be parts of circular-cylindrical surfaces. <IMAGE>
