<p>PURPOSE:To enable accurate detection of a gradient of a road surface corresponding to changes in the running resistance of a flat road as caused by the changing of tires or the like. CONSTITUTION:A driving force F, an acceleration resistance M and a reference running resistance RL are calculated to determine a gradient Sin (=sin theta) from the results. On the other hand, the driving force F and the gradient Sin are averaged for a relatively long term so that the mean of the gradient Sin is down to zero (S21) and the mean is stored per vehicle speed (S22). Then, an error of the reference running resistance RL is detected per vehicle speed from the driving force F and the gradient Sin as averaged and a base value RLBASE of the reference running resistance RL (S22) and a correction value RLHOS is set per vehicle speed to correct the base value RLBASE based on the error.</p> |
