Rapid test system for telephone lines and receivers - permits testing by simply lifting receiver and replacing and listening for known tones

The rapid test system is situated in a telephone exchange. The system has a circuit which detects lifting and replacing of telephone receivers to be tested. The system has a sequential circuit whose advancement is controlled by movements of the receiver. Each step of the sequential circuit corresponds to an operating phase of the test system. A test circuit is actuated by the sequential circuit. This test circuit supplies signals translating the result of measurement made on the line and telephone receiver tested. A signal sending circuit controlled by the measurement result signals produces voice frequency signals which are transmitted via the line to the user of the receiver on test.
