The blades of a rotor arranged horizontally above the surface of fluids to be aerated dip partly into the fluids. The blades are cranked so that at the highest water level, the end of the blade is practically horizontal as it touches the smooth surface. The angle subtended by the radial section to the cranked section of the blade is between 100 and 150 degrees. The cranked section is for pref. between 1/5 and 4/5 of the total length of the blade. As the top of the blade touches the water at the highest level, the cranked section subtends at its point an angle between 1 and 5 degrees to the surface of the water. For application in the activation of sludge, increasing the efficiency of the introduction of gas into the fluid, and reducing by as much as one half the consumption in conventional devices of 1 kWh electrical energy per 2 kg of oxygen put in.
|
