The room temperature lowering device is used in a thermostatic valve controlled heating element such as a radiator. The temperature is rapidly lowered without making use of the thermostat valve. An electrothermally controlled valve is fitted into the hot water feed to the radiator adjacent to the thermostatic valve (1). This electrothermally controlled valve has a heating coil (7) and is connected to a timing switch acting on expanding fluid. The valve plate (9) is held on the expansion element (8).
