Non-slip underlay for foam backed carpets - comprises evenly spaced foam strips connected by woven threads

The underlay is formed by rectangular section foam strips (11 of equal width connected together and held spaced from each other by woven-in textile threads (12, 13, 14). The wide sides of the strips lie parallel to the main surface of the underlay (10) and run parallel to each other in warp manner forming with the threads a woven structure. The foam strips are held loosely in the textile fabric (12, 13, 14) so that a transverse expansion of the strips is possible when the latter are compressed during wear. The spacing x between the strips which is produced by the woven-in threads ensures there is sufficient freedom of movement so that no bulges occur in the carpet. Furthermore even on a smooth floor the carpet has a non-slip effect due to the gaps between the individual strips.
