Detection of objects for road vehicle guidance system

The detection involves detecting objects on the surface of a road by a pair of video cameras (1) that provide stereo information. The cameras provide input to a computer (2) that is linked to a display (5), hard disc drive (4) and keyboard (3). The two images obtained by the camera are compared. Any difference relating the images of objects to the plane of the road are used to derive compensation parameters to be used in accurate object identification.
