<p>A liq. pumping installation includes a service pump unit remote from its drive unit to which it is connected by a flexible transmission, pref. a pipe contg. hydraulic fluid. In the drive unit of this hydraulic transmission system, a motor or engine is pref. directly coupled to drive an hydraulic pump, e.g. of the piston or diaphragm type. The hydraulic pump reciprocates hydraulic fluid in a transmission pipe connected to a service pump unit, pref. comprising a diaphragm or free piston pump. The drive unit can be installed in a dry, accessible location while the service pump unit is totally immersed in liq. to be pumped. Used for pumping liq., partic. sewage is sludge and mineral ore slurry etc., where it is convenient to use a submerged pump. The service pump unit can be totally immersed in liq. to be pumped while the drive unit operates in more favourable, dry conditions and is readily accessible for maintenance and adjustment.</p> |
