METHOD FOR PURIFYING THE TERT. BUTYL ETHER FROM METHANOL. : A method is disclosed for stripping methanol from a stream which contains methyl tert. butyl ether. Stripping of methanol is made by distillation taking care that the percentage of methanol in the charge relative to the sum of the C4 hydrocarbons plus methanol never exceeds the value of 1 + 1/3P, the percentage of methanol being by weight and the pressure in abs. atm. Good stripping efficiencies are obtained and the necessity of dehydration steps dispensed with.
